DMCA & Copyright Policy

What we claim copyright in, what quotation is permitted, what automated uses are prohibited, and how to submit or respond to a takedown notice.

Effective & last updated: August 1, 2026

1. Copyright ownership

Except where otherwise noted, all content on elizabethcharlotte.com is the original work of, or licensed to, Discover Elizabeth, and is protected under 17 U.S.C. §§ 101 et seq. and applicable international copyright treaties. This includes, without limitation:

  • Original written text, editorial analysis, and commentary;
  • Photography and illustrations;
  • Maps and cartographic elements;
  • Data compilations and the selection, coordination, and arrangement of factual data;
  • Source code, page templates, and design elements; and
  • The selection and arrangement of the Site as a whole, protectable as a collective work.

Third-party names, logos, and trademarks referenced on the Site remain the property of their respective owners and are used only for identification and commentary, as described in our Disclaimers page.

2. Permitted use: brief quotation

We support fair use. You may quote a brief excerpt of our text for commentary, criticism, news reporting, or academic purposes, provided that you (a) keep the excerpt reasonably short relative to the whole article, (b) clearly attribute it to Discover Elizabeth or elizabethcharlotte.com, and (c) include a live, unobstructed hyperlink back to the original page. This permission does not extend to republishing an entire article, image, map, or dataset.

3. Prohibited use: scraping, syndication, and AI training

The following uses are not permitted without our prior written consent:

  • Automated scraping, crawling (beyond ordinary search-engine indexing), harvesting, or bulk downloading of the Site's content;
  • Republishing, mirroring, or syndicating our articles, photographs, maps, or data compilations in whole or substantial part;
  • Using any content from this Site to train, fine-tune, validate, benchmark, or otherwise ground any machine learning model, large language model, or generative artificial intelligence system; and
  • Removing or altering any copyright, attribution, or watermark notice.

We reserve all text- and data-mining rights described in our Terms of Use. We take technical and legal steps to detect and deter unauthorized automated access.

4. Reporting alleged infringement (DMCA takedown notice)

If you believe material on this Site infringes your copyright, you may submit a written notice to our designated agent that includes, per 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3):

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf;
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed;
  3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it (for example, the specific URL);
  4. Your contact information — address, telephone number, and email address;
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Send notices to our designated agent at npeters@yourleaderinluxury.com. Upon receipt of a compliant notice, we will act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material.

5. Counter-notice procedure

If you believe material you posted or that we removed was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice to the same address containing:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature;
  2. Identification of the material removed and its location before removal;
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification;
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number; and
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the United States, for any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.

Upon receipt of a valid counter-notice, we may, as required by law, restore the material within 10–14 business days unless the original complainant files a court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringer.

6. Repeat infringer policy

We reserve the right, in appropriate circumstances, to terminate access for users or sources who are determined to be repeat infringers of copyright.

7. Designated agent

Discover Elizabeth's designated agent for copyright notices under the DMCA is reachable at npeters@yourleaderinluxury.com.
